Teeth Replacement – For Good
When it comes to replacing lost or failing teeth, you have a number of options, including bridgework and partial dentures. But if you’re a good candidate for dental implants, nothing provides the same level of permanence and stability. It’s the closest thing to having a real tooth, and it’s designed to last a lifetime.
Versatile Dental Solutions
Implants are made of titanium, which works best with living bone and tissue and can be implanted without threat of infection. They are surgically placed into the jawbone below gum level, with the sturdy metal post acting as a replacement for the tooth’s root. Implants are good for replacing a single tooth, many teeth, or for providing support for dentures.
How Teeth Replacement Works
Here’s how teeth replacement works. First, we insert the titanium post in a surgical procedure under local anesthetic and sedation if required. Then we give your jaw time to heal and allow the bone to fuse with the implant. Once that has occurred, we fit the replacement tooth or crown, and voila – a new tooth that looks completely natural!
Most patients report that the experience was surprisingly comfortable – in fact, many tell us they don’t know why they were so worried about it in the first place.
Let’s Talk
If you’re considering a dental implant, one of our dentists will determine whether you’re a candidate. Basically, you have to have enough bone density in your jaw to hold the post in place. (Bone loss can occur if a tooth has been missing for a long time, and due to aging.) However, if your bone density isn’t sufficient, a bone graft is a possibility.
If you have gum disease or any infection in your mouth, they must be treated before an implant can be placed.
