COVID-19 has brought massive disruption into how we conduct our daily activities. To ensure safety for all, precautions have been put in place in nearly every industry to help keep people safe. 

At Desired Smiles, we have added enhancements to our patient care that go above and beyond what is required by governing bodies. The health and safety of our patients and our team members is our number one priority; we want you to feel comfortable, safe and secure upon returning to our clinic.

In addition to our already industry leading Universal Precautions, excellent sterility procedures, and safe dental environment; we have added more safety technology, equipment and protocols to our practice. Below you will find information about each enhancement that has been added to our patient care at Desired Smiles. We look forward to serving you again soon, with the top quality care you deserve.

1. Contactless Patient Experience

Physical distancing is one of the most effective ways to reduce the transmission of COVID-19. To make this possible in dentistry, we have implemented a cycle of care that will limit physical contact between our employees and our patients. 

We will be utilizing a new app, XCare, that will allow us to complete many tasks digitally versus through using traditional methods. 

Pre-screening Forms

First, we will be sending you a digital pre-screening form to complete 24 hours prior to your appointment. This is done for both team members and patients to ensure that you can safely enter the practice.

Virtual Check-In Process

Once you arrive at your appointment, you will be able to check-in virtually from the parking lot, and we will communicate with you when we are ready for you to enter the clinic to limit the number of bodies within the clinic at any given time. 

Temperature Check

Upon your entry into the building, one of our team members will take your temperature with a contactless thermometer. If you are running a fever you will be asked to reschedule your appointment for a future date. Once your temperature has been taken and it is determined that you are not running a fever, you will be taken into your treatment room for your appointment.  

Contactless Billing & Future Appointment Scheduling

After your visit, you can schedule your next appointment, make your payment, and leave a review all from within the app, meaning that when your treatment is complete you can walk straight out of the building and handle all other details of your appointment virtually. 

2. Hand Wash & Sterile Stations

We will have hand sanitizer readily available for you upon your arrival and throughout the duration of your appointment to create the cleanest environment possible.

3. Closed Rooms

Our dental clinic is equipped with private patient treatment rooms which ensures that aerosols are contained within an enclosed environment during your dental treatment. This means increased privacy, increased physical distancing, and a decreased chance of transmission between patients and staff.

4. HEPA Filters

To add another level of safety to your care, we have added HEPA filters into all of our treatment rooms and around our clinic to help filter aerosols within the dental environment. HEPA filters take away 97% of the bacteria and viruses within the air through their filtration technology.

5. Patient Vacuums

During your treatment is when most aerosols are created. To help with this issue, we have added in patient vacuums to work in tandem with our HEPA filters. These vacuums are hoods that will go directly above the patient’s mouth during treatment. They use suction to pull aerosols into a filtration system that takes aerosols in, then produces clean air. These patient vacuums help to eliminate 99% of viruses and bacteria. 

6. Dental PPE

As an extra layer of precaution, all of our staff will be wearing required dental PPE to ensure everyone’s safety. Gowns, N95 masks, face shields, glasses and gloves will all be used to make sure you receive your care in the safest way possible.
