The Most Frequently Asked Dental Questions for New Clients

Asking good questions and getting answers is a part of great oral health care.

To help you get the answers you need, we have put together a list of our most frequently asked questions.

Q: How much do you charge for a regular cleaning?

A: A person’s fees are determined by the length of time that they need to complete a thorough dental hygiene visit. Factors also include how long it has been since their last visit.

Q: Do I need a new client exam? Can’t I just have a cleaning?

A: A new client exam is a comprehensive exam that allows us to create your baseline, after all, we’ve never seen you before. We use this time to complete your medical history, update your x-rays and do an oral cancer screening with one of our dentists. Once this exam is completed, we are better able to reserve the right amount of time with a hygienist for your dental cleaning.

Q: How long will I be there for a new client exam?

A: For a new client comprehensive exam, we always allow 90 minutes. This will allow us enough time to review your medical history, update your x-rays, complete an intraoral and extra oral exam, along with completing your oral cancer screening. We are able to spend time afterwards to answer any questions and assist you with insurance needs. We never want a client to feel rushed.

Q: Will my insurance cover the cost of this exam?

A: Yes, most plans do allow a comprehensive exam with a frequency of one exam within a 3 year period.

With digital and technological advancements like same day crowns and digital x-rays, it’s a good idea to ask questions about your options before arriving for your first appointment.
